## A Fun Math Game for Kids and Adults

It’a hard to come up with something that is math related and is something that kids will enjoy. As a matter of fact, it is nearly impossible! I’ve seen many math games, and even bought some hoping my kids would embrace them and turn them into math geniuses. Alas, it was not to be.

One day, not too long ago, our oldest son brought home some math materials from kindergarten class. He showed me one game in which you spin a dial such that it will land on a number. Whoever gets the highest number wins. Simple – but he really liked it! Well, that got me into thinking of a game that has a similar appeal, and would not be too hard to play. So I came up this math game and called it “Square-Off”.

Square-Off is a dice math game in which you roll dice and try to beat your opponent by rolling the biggest score. The first player to win five matches wins the game. I made a score sheet for the game and instructed our oldest boys (5 and 4) on the rules. To my very happy surprise, they enjoyed playing it! Being internet marketing savvy, I made a video of them playing and posted it on YouTube:

There are some variants that I came up with, including an adult variant that will let you play “Poker Dice”. All you need to play is some dice and the score card (which is available at the game page – free of course). I am not promising that your kids will enjoy Square-Off, but I am hoping that they will!
