The Great Cold Spot

Is our Universe one of many existing in higher spacial dimensions?  There exists an “area” in our Universe where the cosmic microwave background seems to be cooler than the rest of the Universe:

I’ll just call this “area” The Great Cold Spot; it is also known as the CMB cold spot.  So why is this region cooler?  One of the coolest ideas is that it is due to another Universe “bumping” into our own!  Of course, it may be due to other things, including it being an early remnant from the phase transition of the early Universe.
